Recently, Testpoint conducted an interesting market research study in Milan and Rome to evaluate the popularity of a new fruit puree. The study's unique feature was the participants: very young children between the ages of 6 and 18 months. Parents were asked to observe and rate their child's taste.<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A home usage test <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

How do you know if your child likes baby food or a puree you're offering for the first time? Obviously, you observe them while you're giving it to them: babies' expressions are very clear and tell you immediately whether they like the new food or not. What does the baby do? Do they signal for more, or do they make a disgusted face and spit the food everywhere?\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And it's precisely with this logic in mind that Testpoint conducted a test on fruit purees in Milan and Rome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We'll tell you how it was done.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first step was to recruit 200 families with children between the ages of 6 and 18 months, 100 in Milan and 100 in Rome. The babies were required to regularly consume fruit purees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Testpoint interviewers then delivered three jars of baby food to the participating families' homes: the test product and two competitor products of the same flavor. The samples were obviously anonymous, in unlabeled packages identified only by code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The instructions enclosed with the samples and duly explained by the interviewer indicated the order in which the baby food should be administered. It worked like this: the first baby food was to be used for three consecutive days; then the process was repeated in the same way for the second and third products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After each three-day trial, participating families were asked to complete a short online questionnaire: by connecting to a link on their cell phone, tablet, or computer, using the credentials provided, they answered a few simple questions about the product, specifically about their child's appreciation of it. Un test domiciliare <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Come fate a capire se il vostro bimbo gradisce una pappina o un omogeneizzato che gli proponete per la prima volta? Ovviamente lo osservate\u00a0mentre glielo somministrate: le espressioni dei bimbi sono chiarissime e vi comunicano subito se il nuovo cibo \u00e8 gradito o no. Cosa fa il bambino? Fa cenno di volerne ancora o fa un\u2019espressione disgustata e sputacchia il cibo dappertutto?\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ed \u00e8 esattamente seguendo questa logica che Testpoint ha effettuato a Milano e a Roma un test su omogeneizzati di frutta.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vi raccontiamo come si \u00e8 svolto.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il primo passo \u00e8 stato reclutare 200 famiglie con bimbi di et\u00e0 compresa tra i 6 e i 18 mesi<\/strong>, 100 a Milano e 100 a Roma. I bimbi dovevano consumare abitualmente omogeneizzati di frutta. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gli intervistatori di Testpoint hanno poi recapitato al domicilio<\/strong> delle famiglie partecipanti tre vasetti<\/strong> di omogeneizzati: si trattava del prodotto in test e di altri due prodotti competitor dello stesso gusto. I campioni erano ovviamente anonimi<\/strong>, in confezioni senza etichetta ma contraddistinte solo da una sigla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le istruzioni allegate ai campioni e debitamente spiegate dall\u2019intervistatore indicavano l\u2019ordine<\/strong> in cui gli omogeneizzati dovevano essere somministrati al bambino. Funzionava cos\u00ec: il primo omogeneizzato andava utilizzato per tre giorni consecutivi; quindi si ripeteva il tutto con le stesse modalit\u00e0 per il secondo e il terzo prodotto. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dopo ciascuna prova di tre giorni, la famiglia partecipante doveva compilare un breve questionario online<\/strong>: collegandosi ad un link<\/strong>, dal cellulare o dal tablet o dal computer, con le credenziali ricevute, e rispondere a poche semplici domande sul prodotto e in particolare sul gradimento che il bambino dimostrava.
